The Dean of Students at the University of Ghana has cancelled a show that was set to have one Ghana’s big music heavyweights, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale.
The Reunion Rave, organized by THE WAVE AFRICA i’m collaboration with the JAMES TOPP NELSON YANKAH HALL, JCR (TF HOSTEL), has been abruptly cancelled by the Dean of Students of the University of Ghana, Legon.
In a communique sited on the official students-interactive X handle, Voice of Legon, the show which was slated to happen today has been suspended or cancelled by the Dean of Students. The communique, dated 7th June, 2024, indicated that the action was taken due to organizers going contrary to the directives given to them by the Office of the Dean of Students. They further indicated that the organizers have gone ahead to organize a program which is not part of the agreed and approved list of programs for their “TWO-DAY ALUMINI ENGAGEMENT” event.
According to the Office of the Dean of Students, the REUNION RAVE OR ARTISTE NIGHT, was not part of the list of programs outline submitted to them by the JCR, for approval. Therefore, they demand the immediate cancellation of the program. The Office also indicated that failure to comply with the directives of this communique will attract severe penalties to the organizers.
“The letter dated 14th March, 2024 from the Office of the Dean of Students Affairs, granting you permission to organize your event “TWO-DAY ALUMINI ENGAGEMENT” clearly stated directives to be adhered to.
It has come to the notice of the Office of the Dean of Students Affairs that contrary to following the directions for the “TWO-DAY ALUMINI ENGAGEMENT” event, slated from 7th – 8th June, 2024, the executives of the James Topp Nelson Yankah Hall have gone ahead to organize a program which was not part of the list of programs approved by the Office of the the Dean of Student Affairs.
The Reunion Rave or Artiste Night, was not part of the program outline submitted by the JCR to the office for approval, therefore the Reunion Rave or Artiste Night has been canceled with immediate effect…”
On the flip side, rival, Stonebwoy is set to headline the LIMAN HALL ARTISTE NIGHT, which is coming on today, on the University of Ghana campus.
