After the end of the season, and after winning the FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City, Manchester United chief sought to review the season in general and identify problems and areas which are in need of much improvement. One of the areas that is regarded as very important and could have a massive impact on the club is the decision to either let manager Erik ten Hag continue in his role as head coach or show him the exit, which will only mean to bring in another coach. And one of such whose name has been mentioned a lot in this saga in Thomas Tuchel.

Thomas Tuchel, formerly of Chelsea and recently of Bayern Munich is one name that has been sounded a lot in the Manchester United spheres, with reports suggesting that the German will be keen to take the job should United relieve Ten Hag off his duties. The German is said to be rated highly by United chiefs, pointing to his success with Chelsea, leading them to lift the UEFA Champions League.

However, there are some members of the United board who feel Thomas Tuchel will be a wrong fit for the 20-time premier league champions. Their argument lies in his recent performances with Bayern Munich, where they finished second behind champions Bayern Leverkusen and also losing the semi-final to Real Madrid. There are fears that he will not be able to live up to the mark at United, considering the kind of team he inherited at Bayern and what he was able to do, leading the club to losing its first league title in 11 years, putting an end to their reign at the top. Many within the board and fans of United feel he cannot live up to expectations, considering the state of the United squad at the moment.

Nonetheless, the above assertions have not stopped United Chiefs from discussing him internally and even meeting him to listen to his vision of the club, should in case they decide to discontinue with the current manager. Spanish journalist, Fabrizio Romano, known for his credibility in the transfer market, announced that Manchester United ‘have discussed Thomas Tuchel internally. He is a candidate they are speaking to for the job in case they decide to sack Erik ten Hag….”.

Recent reports coming in from one of Germany’s credible sports news outlet [@CfcBayern], suggests that there has actually been a meeting between new United shareholder Sir Jim Ratchlife and Thomas Tuchel in Monaco. The report indicates that the United chief sort to find out his plans for the club, should in case Erik ten Hag is sacked.

The report also states that Thomas Tuchel expressed readiness to take up the job as head coach of Manchester United. He explained to Ratchlife how he could get Manchester United’s Sporting problems, such as Sancho and Mount back on track. He cited the example of Antonio Rudiger when he helped transform the form of the player into the stellar player we see today.

With these reports, it’s only safe to assume, that in the event that Ten Hag is sacked, it should not come as a surprise if Thomas Tuchel is given the nod to take up the ruins.
