Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, popularly known as Dr Likee, is a comedy sketch creator and actor from Ghana. He recently declared that he will cease his acting career two weeks after returning to Ghana from the UK.
In an interview published on the GhKwaku Instagram page, Dr. Likee gave his reasoning for the decision. He said that many people falsely criticize and disparage him, despite his efforts, hard work, and dedication to helping upcoming actors and content creators succeed on YouTube.
He claims that he has made the decision to resign because of the demanding nature of his profession and the numerous accusations made against him.
He said, “Two weeks after I return to Ghana, I won’t do it again. I am not going to act nor will I produce movies again. As I prepare to return home, there are about 50 producers and creators who want me on their sets. I work from 6am in the morning to 6pm in the evening and the stress is too much. I am tired.
“Also, the accusations that I have my preferred people I work with is very false. Present all the creators here and point out who I have not worked with before. So, you see, it is because of these accusations and more that I want to quit.”
He noted that, “When I quit, I won’t be accused or blamed for anything.”
Many people have given Dr. Likee credit for the recent resurgence of the Kumawood film industry. He has lifted and promoted several up-and-coming actors through his YouTube comedy routine.
Through him, a number of celebrities gained notoriety, including Jordan, Sobolo, Kyekyeku, 39/40, and C-confion.
