Celebrity Maame Dokono, Grace Omaboe, an actress and TV personality from Ghana, has responded to persistent claims around her purported relationship with the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.
On July 30, 2024, during a function held at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra, the “By the Fireside” Maame Dokono categorically refuted reports that she was the former President’s girlfriend.
Some claimed to have heard that I was President Rawlings’ girlfriend. Who is that individual? Right. Maame Dokono categorically declared, “I was never President Rawlings’ girlfriend,” dispelling rumors that had persisted for years.
Maame Dokono told tales of her path into politics during the celebration of her 80th birthday and 60-year career in Ghanaian cinema.
She clarified that her introduction to the political scene came from the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
“Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings dragged me into politics. I joined both parties and if your party doesn’t win, you suffer and I really suffered for it. So I left politics,” she said, describing the difficulties she faced.
She revealed details about her past as well as the August 7, 2024, publication date of her forthcoming book.
